Experimental investigation of the shear strength of <scp>one‐way reinforced concrete (RC)</scp> slabs subjected to concentrated loads and <scp>in‐plane</scp> transverse axial tension

This paper presents the results of an experimental campaign carried out to investigate effects in-plane transverse tensile forces on shear strength linearly supported one-way reinforced concrete (RC) slabs without reinforcement subjected concentrated loads. A total 5 half scale (1650 × 1650 120 mm), simultaneously different levels and a load were tested up failure. The clear span effective depth ratio av/d was equal 3 in all tests, minimize direct transmission closest support, so called arching action. As observed, barely decreases with increasing values force applied, even for external that cracked cross-section direction perpendicular span. These observations may indicate shear–flexural behavior spanning is not significantly affected by membrane direction.
